Message from Commodore Stephanie Gaff

I want to thank every one who came out on February 14th and spent Valentine's Day with us. It was a very good Stockholder's meeting, Slip Assignment, and Member's Appreciation Dinner. I want to thank everyone who made the day such a success.

It's great to see something going on at the Club almost every weekend. Our members have been having a great time enjoying the bar, pool table, and shuffleboard.

Our first event of the year is a Half-Event happening on Saturday, March 13. It is a St. Patrick's Dinner & Party. Capacity is limited, so get your reservations in early. Remember, everyone is Irish on St. Patty's Day! All members are required to do 2 Events per membership each year. This event is a mini-event and will count as a 1/2 credit.

Plans are already starting for our Opening Weekend which is planned for June 4-6. This will be a 3-day event weekend and hope to see our members coming out for the Official Opening to the 2021 Boating Season. In the coming weeks, you will see the sign-up sheets posted on the bulletin board. For those of you who are new members, remember every member is required to put in at least 4 hours during Opening Weekend.

We are also starting to plan for CCC's Weekend early this year. PC Jerry Selig will be the incoming Commodore for 2022 and as a Club we have some obligations for the weekend. It would be great to see as many of our members as possible to sign up to attend the Ball at the Princess Royale in Ocean City MD in January 2022.

We will need as much help as possible for Opening Weekend and CCC's Weekend. If you cannot make any of the scheduled planning meetings but would like to help out, please reach out to me and can let you know what we will need help with.

Lastly, if you are interested to hosting a Mini-Event or Full Event, please speak with Board and Kitchen Chair.

Message from Vice Com  Wayne Orem
COVID COVID COVID. Please wear a mask while in the club for the safety of others and the good of the club. We are coming down the home stretch and I wish to see everyone healthy at the other end I realize this is sounding like a broken record but most or you are taking zero precautions. If you feel that COVID is not a real treat that is fine but please be respectful of the club members, myself included who are taking precautions and following the Maryland guildelines. I've had many older members approach me with their concerns. Please be a respectful club member and follow the rules. Work parties will be starting up soon. Please keep an eye out for a list of projects to be posted on the bulletin board as please bring me any suggestions of projects you would wish to see done.Let's all work together to make 2021 a great year at the REYC.

Best regards.
VC Wayne Orem

Message from Rear Com Scarlett Corso

Greetings all:
With that pop of warm weather into the 50's this week, we've reached the beginning of the end of winter and I can almost hear boats splashing into the water now. The end cap project is nearly finished the construction phase, at which point we will move onto installation on the piers. Please ensure to be safe walking on the piers in inclement weather, as they are not typically shoveled for ice/snow, when you are checking on your boats. It has been great seeing so many faces at the club on the weekends! Stay safe.

Message from Fleet Capt Jerry Selig
Spring is just around the corner and before you know it the piers will be bustling with activity as members prepare for the upcoming boating season. As you begin to utilize the piers please check your surroundings to make sure Mother Nature did not have an adverse effect on the integrity of your finger piers. Let's start the season off safely and hopefully keep it that way.

As many of you probably know by now, I am slated to be the Commodore of the Chesapeake Commodores Club in 2022. The ceremony will take place at the CCC annual ball at the Princess Royale Hotel in Ocean City. This has been a long rewarding journey for me and it would be my honor if as many of you as possible could join in the celebration that weekend with me. This past Saturday, Commodore Stephanie conducted an early planning meeting to discuss possible weekend room themes. In addition we discussed having at least two small "dinner" fundraisers in the future to help offset the cost of the Thursday night party in Ocean City where as incoming Commodore I will have to provide food and drink for a few hundred people. I hope many of you will be able to attend those events. I will ask Secretary Cheryl to attach the flyer for the CCC ball in this edition of our newsletter that details the cost and payment options for members. Erni Heiser will be the club CCC contact and will be happy to take your reservations. I greatly appreciate everyone's support.
FC Jerry

Message from Princess Katie Gaff

Finally back into the swing of things. I was lucky enough to attend Crescent Yacht Club's Ball recently and finally see some of the other Princesses from around the Bay.

With warmer weather, my charity The Maryland Waterways Foundation is starting to get back into planning local cleanups for our Communities and Waterways.

If anyone follows me on Facebook, I have been posting some of the upcoming events. More events are being added daily.

I am currently working with the Baltimore Sea Scouts and United States Coast Guard Auxiliary to plan a Boater's Safety class. I am hoping to get the Princesses, yacht club youth, and anyone else who needs to get certified to enroll in the class. We are currently working out dates and times for classes. As soon as I have everything in order, I will have a flyer out for registration.

Message from Chaplain
When the Complete arrives, my incompletes will be cancelled. I don't yet see things clearly. I'm squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! I'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees me, knowing him directly just as he knows me! But for right now, until that completeness, I have three things to do to lead me toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly, and the best of all three is Love. (1 Corinthians 13: 10, 12-13)

Heavenly Father,
Continue to watch over us, keep us safe in the palm of your hand. Please Bless us all and especially those who are struggling in these times.

Amen,

Chaplain,
Stephen Culhane
